The Next Edition Of The Amelia Island News Wrecker Scheduled To Once Again Misinform Nassau Residents

This blog will take a break for the month of April while we concentrate on writing and editing articles and selling ads for this year’s Shrimp Festival edition of the Amelia Island News Wrecker.

The annual Shrimp Festival News Wrecker wasn’t published the past two years because there wasn’t a Shrimp Fest and the businesses wise enough to advertise in past issues were either closed, scaled back their hours, or cut back on advertising due to the government’s Covid restrictions.

This year the Wrecker will celebrate its 6th edition of “misinforming Nassau County residents”.

In an effort to beat other media outlets with fast-breaking news the Wrecker sometimes has to make the news up before it takes place. As a result, the paper may make a few mistakes, but its alert editors and crack reporters don’t really care, and they don’t try that hard anyway, making the News Wrecker no different than any other area news outlets.

This year’s News Wrecker will have difficulty competing with the silliness the left tosses our way on a daily basis (see stories below), but we’ll try.

Since 2015 the News Wrecker has provided area residents with scoops such as the massive iceberg wedged between sandbars at Main Beach, the nuclear power plant being constructed across from the Fernandina marina, restaurants installing scales to prevent overweight people from overindulging, the sunset switching from the west to  the east side of Amelia Island, and much more.

This year’s edition will be jam packed with helpful news, features, opinions, and upcoming community events. Stories other local media outlets are afraid to tackle are no problem for News Wrecker Editor Anita Nuderbeer and her crack staff including Society Editor Cody Pendant, Sports Editor Linus Scrimmage, Fishing Editor Marianna Trench, Restaurant critic E. Coli, editorial page editor Ty Raid, and more.

If you have a business or anything you want to sell, lease, buy, or encourage people to eat or drink that’s legal, then contact me at davidnscott@bellsouth.net, call me at my unlisted phone number, or email kathyfisher816@gmail.com.

WOW! A front-page article in the Wednesday, March 23 edition of the local bi-weekly News Leader headlined: “Battling the odds” by a reporter with the fortunate name of “Julia Roberts”, detailed the platforms of a couple of Democrat party candidates running for state-wide office, who were invited to speak to likeminded folks at a group of Nassau County Democrats hereabouts.

One of the Democrat candidates, Ryan Morales, who is vying for the office of Agriculture Commissioner, was described as a “cannabis activist who specializes in Internet development and cybersecurity.”  In the article he was also quoted as saying: “We need to talk about psychedelic mushrooms” that he said are a “good source of protein and bioremediation.”

Just what our state needs, a cybersecurity guy stoned on weed and hallucinatory mushrooms.

I’m not sure the News Wrecker could have made up this story.

Speaking Of Silliness: The national satirical Babylon Bee received a notice from Twitter Sunday, March 20 that it has  been locked out of its account for engaging in “hateful conduct.”

Their crime? They jokingly selected Rachel Levine — a male government official who wears a dress to work — as its pick for “Man of the Year.” This was its satirical response to Levine’s being named one of the top women of the year by USA Today, something that paper actually did.

So, they are being locked out of their account for reporting that a man, who wear a dress to work, is a man.

They were told by Twitter that their account will be restored in 12 hours, but the countdown won’t begin until THEY delete the tweet that violates Twitter’s rules.

Here’s Twitter’s statement to the media regarding the account’s suspension: “The account you referenced has been temporarily locked for violating our hateful conduct policy. The account owner is required to delete the violative Tweet before regaining access to their account.”

Babylon Bee CEO Seth Dillon remains adamant that they will not be deleting their post, stating, “Truth is not hate speech. If the cost of telling the truth is the loss of our Twitter account, then so be it.” He also encouraged others to never censor the truth and force the social media platform to “ban tens of millions of us.”

An “update” is included at the end of the Bee piece where the author adds, “Since announcing this award, we’ve been told that Levine actually identifies as a woman. We have still chosen to give the award as his self-identification has no bearing on the truth. Congratulations, Rachel Levine!”

I feel slighted because I’ve never been blocked or banned by Twitter. That’s because I’ve never used it. I have no idea how to tweet or access Twitter. I have enough problems plugging in the toaster, using email and posting this column on Facebook. I have been honored to occasionally having this blog kicked off some local Facebook sites and their reasons why always make interesting blog items.

But Wait! There’s More! While the Babylon Bee is being censored for reporting that a man is a man, Joe Biden’s Supreme Court nominee, Ketanji Brown Jackson, told Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) that she couldn’t define a woman saying: “I’m not a biologist.”

This is a gal who is married to a guy and has given birth to a couple of kids, who says she doesn’t know the difference between a man and a woman.

Later in the confirmation hearing session Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) asked Ms. Jackson “If I can change my gender, if I can become a woman, and then an hour later, if I decide that I’m not a woman anymore, I guess I would lose Article III standing — tell me, does that same principle apply to other protective characteristics?” asked Cruz. “For example, I’m a Hispanic man. Could I decide that I’m an Asian man? Would I have the ability to be an Asian man and challenge Harvard discrimination because I made that decision?”

“Senator, I’m not able to answer your question,” Jackson responded. “You’re asking me about hypotheticals and, ummm –”

So, if Biden’s Supreme Court nominee doesn’t know what a woman is how does Biden know if he nominated one for the Court?

How does the entire Senate chamber keep from bursting out into uncontrollable laugher, then unanimously dismissing this nitwit and asking the next candidate to come in for questioning?

***

Speaking of Fake News: The New York Times, a media shill for the Democrat swamp machine, finally admitted that Hunter Biden’s laptop computer was the real deal, a story first reported by The New York Post just before the 2020 election. Shouldn’t the paper now suggest that the FBI be on the case with a team of investigators because of the threat to national security? The Times’ admission is proof of censorship by the news media, who colluded with elected officials and law enforcement officers to protect guilty parties. Sounds like a – GASP! – conspiracy.

Hey Kid! Or anybody else who will listen.

Amelia Island investor, entrepreneur, developer, lawyer, and author Pat Keogh’s book “Hey Kid! Wanna Own Great American Businesses” explains how kids can happily transfer their instant gratification from the mall to the stock exchange and become fledgling tycoons.

Pat explains to kids in language they can understand that buying stakes in individual corporations ranging from Walmart and McDonalds to Target and Pepsi Cola can make them rich. “It’s good to be rich” Pat tells the tykes and explains why and how to do it by gradually buying shares of companies, particularly the ones that pay dividends.

Pat’s book is directed toward children, but his advice is suitable for adults particularly in a financial world turned upside down by the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

National investor, pundit, author, university lecturer, and corporate executive Joel Ross agreed saying recently: “Bonds are absolutely not what you want to invest in. Speculative stocks are not where you want your money. Annuities are not a good investment, nor are mutual funds due to fees and having  no control over what your money gets invested in. You do not need to pay a broker or advisor to put your money into a mutual fund or annuity so you can pay a second set of fees. It is a stock picking market from here on” he said referring to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

You can read my review of Pat’s book at http://www.davescottblog.com/national-media-reports-feds-are-dumping-illegal-aliens-here-while-our-pathetic-local-media-continue-to-ignore-the-story/

Pat wrote another book a while back titled: “Make Your Family Rich” another straight forward easy to read financial primer geared toward adults.

Both of Pat’s books are available through Amazon.

You can hear from Pat and ask him questions when he appears at the downtown Fernandina Beach library Thursday, April 21.

Kamala Harris Oratory Contest Winner: Question: “If you could live forever, would you and why?”

Answer: “I would not live forever, because we should not live forever, because if we were supposed to live forever, then we would live forever, but we cannot live forever, which is why I would not live forever,” – Miss Alabama in the 1994 Miss  USA  contest

Corporate Cuckoos: The corporate clowns that run AT&T joined the empty suits at Atlanta-based Delta Airlines and Coke as corporations out to establish their far left woke credentials by telling their employees to bone up on Critical Race Theory and pushing the BLM claim that if white people want to know who’s a racist, they need only look in the mirror.

The company is also promoting reparations for blacks and promoting the defund-the-police movement.

Not since major industrialists like Siemens, IG Farben, Krupp, Daimler-Benz, Porsche, Maggi, Hugo Boss, etc.  lined up in support of Adolf Hitler have we seen corporations shown themselves to be this beholden to Fascists.

Green Bird Brains: Those gigantic windmills are far more efficient when it comes to slaughtering birds than providing homeowners with electricity. The late West Coast pundit Burt Prelutsky once said that wind farms are just a nice name for bird Cuisinart’s.

BLM’s Green Is Missing: News is surfacing that a lot of money, in fact millions, is missing from the coffers of Black Lives Matter. The Washington Examiner has been looking into the accounting, especially the tsunami of money that were corporate donations made during the George Floyd canonization by the Democrat church. The auditors claim millions of dollars are not  accounted for. BLM co-founder Patrisse Cullors said in February that the money her group received in 2020 came from “white corporation guilt,”  but there may be another term for their “donations” – Extortion.

An expert on minority organizations extorting corporate America is my friend and nationally known Amelia Island author and journalist, Ken Timmerman. His 2002 best-selling book “Shakedown: Exposing the real Jesse Jackson” is an example of how these organizations and people coerce government, corporations, and unsuspecting individuals into coughing up money to finance their lavish lifestyles with no accountability.

Ken has written 11 books all of which can be ordered on Amazon.

Wait! What? Democrats cheered for rioters for eight months before they were “outraged” by the January 6 rally! But Putin still has a Twitter account while President Trump has been censored.

Nothing To See Here: In Joe Biden’s America if you’re a black cop and take out your pistol and shoot and kill an unarmed white woman it’s a no-fault murder.

Biden’s U.S. Justice Department performed a sham investigation into the death of Ashli Babbitt, a participant in a Jan. 6, 2021, riot, who was shot by U.S. Capitol Police, saying there was no evidence to prove the officer who shot her had violated her civil rights.

Documents uncovered by Judicial Watch reveal that eyewitness – including three police officers at the scene – told investigators they did not hear Capital Police Lt. Michael Byrd give Babbitt any verbal warning prior to firing his pistol, contradicting what Byrd told “NBC Nightly News”.

***

Speaking Of Miscreants: Whatever happened to the investigation into Representative Ilhan Omar’s (D-MN) messy marital history? The last I heard she had been accused of filing income tax returns with one man while married to another. She also stood accused of having married her brother at some point during one or the other of the two marriages in order to illegally get around U.S. immigration laws. I realize that all of this is perfectly normal as far as Democrats are concerned but is there a Republican legislator or media outlet out there that can satisfy my curiosity?

***

How stupid is Joe Biden? He keeps telling Russian dictator Vladimir Putin what he won’t do. Isn’t that like playing poker with all your cards showing?

***

Grave Spinning Time: If Martin Luther King were alive today and made a speech saying:  “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character” he’d be kicked off most college campuses and called a racist by the woke commies in the Democrat party.

Just like his inept Vice President Kamala Harris, Joe Biden’s Supreme Court nominee was picked solely because of her skin color and gender. He said so. Biden, or whoever is running that administration, excludes numerous qualified candidates for no other reason than their race or gender.

OOPS!

Downtown South 2nd Street was blocked for several hours last Monday when a bus bottomed out entering the Hampton Inn and Suites Hotel. Efforts to get the bus back on the road kept the folks outside at PJD’s Beer & Wine Garden and the Boat House Restaurant entertained while the bus driver was busy sending out his resume.

How is it that Biden’s selection process for a SCOTUS nominee is limited only to black women ? I thought discrimination was illegal in the USA.

Richard Norman Kurpiers - 26. Mar, 2022 -

Why in the 232 years of SCOTUS’ existence has there never been a black woman considered, much less nominated for the Supreme Court? Answer that question and you’ll have the answer to your question.

Patrick J. Keogh - 08. Apr, 2022 -

I’m with you Richard Norman. Picking the best person for the job is so yesterday. I think Joe should waste no more time in announcing his next choice will be an Asian lesbian. While he is at it, why not anounce he will work his way through the Inclusionary Alphabet. You know the LGBTQ thing. That way next he could appoint a Native American Gay. With so much to accomplish he might finally have a great reason for packing the Court.

Sounds like affirmative action to me…

Nancy Raines - 26. Mar, 2022 -

Your stuff is great. Glad I found you!

Mark Tomes - 25. Mar, 2022 -

I guess ignorance about gender identification allows a person to ridicule and satirize others. Such is the state of conservatives nowadays: no compassion, no desire to learn anything new, just simple automatic knee-jerk reactions to anything complex or abstract. Life is not black and white, there is lots of gray in there. It is sad to see intelligence and a sense of humor go to so much waste on hating other people, being so angry, saying such stupid things.

Fred - 04. Apr, 2022 -

That is rich… lol Conservatives have no compassion. Okay, show me the compassion that the Left has for anyone that doesn’t involve them trying to get a vote? The Left hate anyone that doesn’t agree with their ideology and ridicule, slander, satirize (or at least attempt to). They are the originators of Cancel Culture for God’s sake.

Larry Thornberry - 25. Mar, 2022 -

Another fine post, Dave. Glad to hear you don’t have a Twitter account. I wouldn’t have expected you to. I don’t have one either. That’s because we’re not Twits. Clearly the folks at Twitter are, and sanctimonious Twits at that if they can get all gnarly about having a little fun at the expense of “U.S.A. Today” for its absurd award to Mr. Levine, the ugliest assistant secretary, of either sex, in the history of the world. He can’t help being ugly, even for a man. But that doesn’t mean we have to play along with his delusion, as so many do, that he’s a woman. We live in madcap times. If Levine were indeed a woman, the vow of chastity would get a better press. No mistake, the object of my contempt is not the pathetic Levine, but those who flog the lunatic idea that people can change their sex, just as they can change their socks. If the Brown Jackson woman, another lost ball in the high weeds, had asked me what a woman is, I’d have been happy to have informed her it’s an adult human being without a Y chromosome. How far gone are we? For countless millennia, everyone on the planet, including children and some domestic animals, knew what a man is and what a woman is without having to take Biology 101. Pray for the republic. We’ve come to a sorry pass.

Richard Norman Kurpiers - 26. Mar, 2022 -

Then you’d be wrong. There are females born with XY chromosomes. Look it up.

Edgar - 26. Mar, 2022 -

Swyer syndrome occurs in approximately 1 in 80,000 people. The cause is unknown, but normally attributed to a genetic mutation. The XX XY distinction is the accepted medical definition of “sex”.

Richard Norman Kurpiers - 26. Mar, 2022 -

Ergo, Judge Jackson’s response was the correct one. Each case before the court must be decided on its own merits without prejudice – including biased thinking based on “most of the time” logic.

Harrison Waller - 27. Mar, 2022 -

Even General Milley’s woke military considers “women” in its requirements for Special Ops, and they aren’t talking about Rachel Levine: “Following a three-year review, the Army has scrapped plans to use the same physical fitness test for all soldiers, choosing instead to have some reduced standards to allow women and older soldiers to pass, the service announced Wednesday.”

Christine Corso - 25. Mar, 2022 -

Asking, “what is a woman” (as silly as it first may seem) was an important question. The official policy of the Biden-Harris Administration (Executive Order 13988) directs all Federal Agencies to redefine sex to include “gender identity” resulting in (simply put) self-identification of sex. The concept of self-identification of sex is already a legal sentencing concept in California resulting in male prisoners (who claim to be female) being housed in women’s prisons. As a woman and a feminist, I find the obliteration of sex in the law is resulting in the annihilation of rights, privacy, and safety of women and girls. I also believe that excluding the extraordinary chromosome mismatch that results in intersex, our species has only two sexes. Self-identification of sex, as an issue in some form will appear on a future Supreme Court docket and as ridiculous as it may seem, the question “what is a woman” will be fundamental in any decision rendered.

I have always believed that women provide us great examples of a defendable well thought out thought process. This thought process coupled with logic, reason while divorced of emotion. It is one if the corner stones I have taught my daughters.

I would like to thank Peg Dickinson for providing an example where this example is not totally inclusive of all women.

However, I would like to help prove Pegs points possible better than she did. One question that’s seems missing during the senate conformation process. Someone needs to ask Judge Brown Jackson if she identifies as a black woman. If not, she is no longer qualified to be our current nomination for the Supreme Court.

Peg Dickinson - 25. Mar, 2022 -

As a woman I was insulted by the question “what is a woman”. What would your comment have been if Justice Barrett was asked the same thing by a Democrat? Did you want a biological answer, or a biblical answer? Did you want to hear that a woman is a human who has boobs and can bear babies, or a human made from Adam’s rib? Would you like Judge Jackson to say a woman is a human who should be barefoot and pregnant and follow one step behind her husband, or a human who is strong enough to have her own thoughts and be able to express them? If the question had been expressed as whether or not a man wearing a dress was a woman, that should be answered the same as a question on a woman’s choice – what a Justice thinks or feels should not be considered when a decision of right or wrong is to be decided, it should be by the laws already in place.

Patrick J. Keogh - 25. Mar, 2022 -

I think Justice Barrett might have answered “Taking some license with a quote from Justice Potter Stewart isn’t it as simple as you know one when you see her”.

Richard Norman Kurpiers - 25. Mar, 2022 -

Jackson’s answer was perfect. She responded by stating that she knew she was a woman and that her mother was a woman. Beyond that, for a judge to predetermine the outcome of a hypothetical such as put forth by Senator Cruz is antithetical to what you want from any judge, much less a Supreme Court judge. The very point of being unbiased is to withhold judgement until all the facts have been presented by qualified participants without allowing personal feelings or beliefs to taint the proceedings.

Fred - 04. Apr, 2022 -

Better watch out Dick. You’re treading on women’s rights. Do you think it’s fair for a biological male to compete against biological females?

peter john edgette - 25. Mar, 2022 -

Dave, thanks for my morning smile. Can’t wait for the new “News Wrecker”

George Miller - 25. Mar, 2022 -

Wow- Love it! This doozy of a blog posting should sustain us while you’re busy finishing the next Newswrecker!
