The Countdown Begins For A Comrade Harris Meltdown

During the Democrat National Convention this week it was apparent that Democrats are like members of an isolated tribe.

They’re comparable to the ones in Afghanistan. They don’t think of themselves as belonging to a nation, but to a specific clan. For example, to Afghan tribal inhabitants, that country is not a place on a map, but just a place where they herd goats or grow poppies; it’s nothing to which they owe any allegiance.

Like Democrats they really don’t care what harm people like Biden, Harris, Walz, Newsom, Whitmer or Pritzker, etc. do to the nation or to individual states. What matters to them is that their tribe has power.

They don’t care whether millions of unidentified illegal aliens from Latin America, Africa, and Asia, etc. have the full run of the country, so long as their politicians can keep their boot on the neck of Republicans or any other opposition to what they are doing or planning on doing

It wasn’t long ago, following 9/11, that all Americans were worried about U.S. Muslims being radicalized and carrying out more terrorist plots.

It’s now all Americans who are being radicalized by the left wing media, college professors and other radical Democrats that believe in dangerous and nonsensical rubbish such as Critical Race Theory, DEI, transgenderism, the toxicity of white males, “climate justice,” open borders, a woke military, and more such bunkum. The dim, violent antisemites rioting in the streets of Chicago were visible proof of their failures. For example, Democrat policies make it easier to enter the U.S. through the southern  border than it was to gain entry to the DNC convention in Chicago.

How does Kamala Harris, whose administration caused this misery, defend her record? At their convention they say she wants to fix all the problems that they caused the past three and one-half years. Why doesn’t she start now? Why didn’t she start earlier? She’s in the administration. Harris is on record saying she will ban fracking, off-shore drilling, provide single-payer health insurance run by the government, defund the police and abolish agencies that enforce immigration. Now she says she won’t do any of those things. Really?

Unlike the Democrats and Harris in Chicago. whose rhetoric splits the country into polarized tribal segments, Republicans continued to move ahead with George H.W. Bush’s vision  at the Republican convention in New Orleans in 1988. He defined America then as a “nation of community, of thousands and tens of thousands of ethnic, religious, social, business, labor union, neighborhood, regional, and other organizations, all of them varied, voluntary and unique — a brilliant diversity spread like stars, like a thousand points of light in a broad and peaceful sky.”

Unlike President Bush’s thousand points of light and Donald Trump’s outreach to all segments of society, the Democrats have spawned and encouraged a variety of organized progressive and widely unpopular programs including climate justice, divestment from Israel, transgenderism, open borders, defunding the police, no-bail for criminals, campus takeovers, riots and street blockades, a weakened military, and antisemitism, among others.

Now that the Democrat Convention is over, Harris has to defend her failed record of the past three and one-half years of inflation, rising costs of food  housing and fuel, wars in Europe and the Mideast, illegal immigration, rising crime, and illegal drugs pouring into the country.  Isn’t this the woman the Dems were talking about dumping from the Biden ticket six months ago? It’s going to get interesting watching her go off script and attempting to answer media questions or give an impromptu talk.

Trump can point to four years of solid economic growth and wage gains for workers; his declining poverty rates; narrowing racial gaps in unemployment and earnings;  U.S. companies returning overseas profits following his tax cuts; border enforcement resulting in dwindling illegal alien crossings; a peaceful Middle East and Russia and China contained. His strong military also defeated ISIS in four months.

The contrast couldn’t be more striking. Americans can chose between the Democrat’s misery and chaos or Republican prosperity and peace.

Think Your Vote Doesn’t Matter? Curtis Gaus lost his bid for Nassau County School Superintendent to incumbent Kathy Burns by just 79 votes and Kristi Simpkins won the District 4 for School Board Member seat by just 74 votes.

Following the election I spoke to a number of folks who said they forgot to vote, didn’t realize it was election day, admitted they weren’t registered to vote, or pleaded indifference saying: “My vote doesn’t matter.”

Of Nassau County’s 75.4 thousand registered voters (of whom 45.4 thousand are Republicans, 13.1 thousand are Democrats, and 16.8 thousand are No party Affiliation), only 22.4 thousand (29.8%) turned out to vote last Tuesday. That’s a pathetic dismal showing.

The almost 70 percent that are registered but didn’t vote are apparently not the least bit concerned about rising property taxes, (which translates into rising rents even if you don’t own  property) additional government regulations, increasing government fees, inept public officials, what’s being taught to their children in public schools, etc.

When elections are decided by just a handful of voters, it displays an abysmal apathy and ignorance on the part of those that don’t exercise this precious privilege. The lame excuses adversely impact them, their neighbors, businesses, and the community as a whole.

Nationally and locally living expenses are rising rapidly. The prices of groceries and gasoline remain far above pre-pandemic levels. The interest rate on a 30-year fixed mortgage is more than twice what it was in 2021, and the medium price of a home has risen by nearly 40 percent and rents are going up. The illegals pouring across the southern border are straining our local schools, hospitals, and other local services. Half of American families cannot balance their monthly budget. We have the highest inflation since 2022, and the average consumer now has more than $6,000 in credit card debt paying interest rates of 20 percent and higher.

People complain and grouse, yet they didn’t register to vote, say they forgot, or don’t care. They’re hurting themselves and others and should be ashamed. Or they are just plain stupid.

Greenwell

Speaking of Elections: My Fort Myers nephew, Mike Greenwell (61), a former Boston Red Sox leftfielder (1985-1996), won the GOP primary for a Lee County, Florida Commission seat assuring him of a four-year term. Mike, who was appointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis to the seat following the death of Frank Mann in 2022, will face weak hitting Democrat designated hitter Kizzie Fowler in the general election Nov. 5.

Overheard at PJD’s Beer & Wine Garden: “The Taliban opened up an army surplus store called Traitor Joe’s.”

Sharing The Love & Other Convention Highlights:  A pro-Hamas loon who made it inside the DNC Convention venue was repeatedly whacked on the head with a “We Love Joe” sign.

The protester, a woman wearing a hijab, had pulled out a “Stop arming Israel” banner during the speech by President Biden, after which an attendee can be seen smacking her on the noggin with the “Love” sign.

  • My friend and American Spectator writer Larry Thornberry said Biden’s speech was probably considered a success since: “He didn’t drool, and he didn’t do a face-plant into the podium.”
  • The DNC featured free abortions and vasectomies, all in the name of unity.
  • Michelle and Barack Obama, Hillary and Bill Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, and other Democrats all showed up to toss dirt on Biden’s political grave.

Insomnia?  Here’s a cure: The Fernandina News Leader’s “Curious Columnist” Jennifer Silverman. If you don’t nod off two paragraphs into her weekly “Look at Me! Look at Me!” plea then you need to seek serious professional help. Her latest August 21 self-portrait headlined: “My dog rules the roost” reads like a book report by a third grader who didn’t read the book. And yes, it’s all about her dog. I imagine that any cats that resided in the Curious Columnist’s household are deceased, expiring from what the old adage says would cause their demise once they glanced over Ms. Silverman’s shoulder.

Grumpy’s burger & fries

Grumpy’s Burger Makes Fat Man Happy:  After cruising through this vast cosmos looking for a burger I was getting a little grumpy. Coincidently, I landed in Wildlight at Grumpy’s Restaurant. Let me tell ya the burger here turned my frown upside down. Not only was I a happy Fat Man from Space but everyone there seemed to be happy too. From the hostess to the waitress to all the customers, everyone appeared cheerful. Now I know why. I’ve heard about this joint as a great breakfast spot but they’re open until 2 pm and serve lunch, which is why I was there.

I ordered the burger with American cheese and fries. I added lettuce, tomato, and pickle. All were fresh but the pickles they use are excellent. They were full of dill flavor and very crisp. I loved them. The burger was quite satisfying. Nice thick pub burger on what I believe was a brioche bun. This is a really good burger. You will not be grumpy when you finish. The fries… oh boy. The fries were out of this world. So, so good. Cooked and seasoned to perfection, yes perfection. The service was outstanding and fast. I was out of there in 30 minutes. As a bonus review I ordered a side of biscuit and sausage gravy. I had super high expectations. After all this joint has a great reputation for breakfast. Biscuits and gravy are my gold standard when it comes to breakfast. I was slightly disappointed. I feel the gravy may have been sitting around waiting to be served with my burger or just not a fresh batch. But the biscuit underneath was really good, so it wasn’t all that bad. It’s not T-Rays B & G that’s for sure but I’d be willing to try it again.

While eating I checked out the plates around me. One thing caught my eye, the cinnamon roll pancakes. Holy Toledo they looked great. I will definitely be going back for breakfast and lunch. The burger with fries was a reasonable  $12.99 and a side order of biscuit and gravy $4.69. It’s located at 76030 William Burgess Blvd. #6 Yulee, FL. 32097.

  • Next time Democrats talk about January 6th I want them to remember Joe Biden evacuation of Afghanistan. 13 American soldiers died and countless thousand of Afghan nationals who were promised safe passage to America for their service were left clinging to the sides of the transport planes during take off eventually falling to their deaths. THAT is the DEMOCRATS way.

    • There is no comparison to a war and to citizens of out country setting out to destroy a building that belongs to all the people of the USA. My great grandmother walked those same halls many years ago, and those people showed no respect for generations past nor future.

      • Peg Dickenson, you are absolutely correct! There is NO comparison between the two events. In one case U.S. military personnel, evidently operating under orders to evacuate Afghanistan in as hasty and bewildering a manner as possible, left billions of dollars’ worth of weapons and equipment behind for the nice Taliban folk to play with, got 13 of our own soldiers and a hundred or so Afghans blown to bits, and – perhaps a first in aviation history – took desperate Afghani civilians for very brief joyrides on the OUTSIDE of planes. (Disney doesn’t have a ride in any of its parks to equal that kind of excitement.) Whereas in the other case, a ragtag collection of knuckleheads wearing an assortment of silly hats entered the Capitol building and roamed around making a racket, taking souvenirs, and putting their feet up on the furniture until the Capitol Police and other law enforcement peeps showed up and told them to bugger off. As you say, no comparison at all.

    • Are you seriously making this comparison? If so, you must be one of the inherently stupid people reader Ronnie Barone mentions in their comment.

  • David, you should be ashamed of yourself for what you write. I thank Jesus every morning for sending “,La” to save us from Donald Trump’s assault on democracy.

      • Apparently the Trump campaign is learning that RFK, Jr.’s support is more of a turn off the younger and colored voters. And, once Kamila got Oprah to endorse her the problem got even worse. We’ll probably lose this election just because they pulled Biden and stuck someone claiming to be colored in his place.

    • “LA” and Tim put tampons in the boys room at Minn. schools
LA and Tim watched Minnesota’s largest city burn
LA created bail fund for rioters
Tim’s wife opened the window to enjoy the smell of the city burning

There’s dozens of more facts available but maybe just the above 3 will wake you up from your coma

  • I have to comment on Warlock’s rant at the DNC–

This man, Warnock, represents the psychosis that resides in the Democratic Party – EVIL PERSONIFIED! Nothing but hatred ever comes from this clowns mouth. Reverend? Reverend my ass, this guy is a real bad apple that preys upon the people for whom the DNC hate rhetoric is aimed. My back is turned to opportunistic leeches like this guy that contributes NOTHING to the people he should be helping. Blaming others for your lack of achievements in a society that offers everything to EVERYBODY is a dastardly lie that only continues the de facto Slavery that the DNC has continued to create since the Emancipation Proclamation. Gotta keep ’em on the Plantation so they vote for our promises that never happen!! Think about it!! Duke

  • Dave, They’re just plain stupid. About 36 years ago, I told my wife (fiance at the time) that Americans are an inherently stupid people. Sadly, I keep getting proved right!

  • Why do Democrats only have Billionaires to give speeches at their events? Oprah, Barack, Michelle, Beyonce’, Bruce, James, et al, have zero connection to the challenges of un-employed, hardworking, or disabled peoples that they are soliciting votes from. The congress-woman that represents Watts ( a troubled neighborhood south of Los Angeles) lives near Hancock Park in L.A. , median price 6.2 million. Where did her wealth come from? Contributions based upon empty promises? Obama went to DC with a 400K financial statement. He now owns 4 houses incl 1 in Hawaii and another in Cape Cod. What did he really do to help those that need it? You know the answer. The whole picture reminds me of Idi Amin of years back. His people worshiped him like a god whilst he was eating them.
When are progressive going to realize that they are being bamboozled by promises that defy logic, political science, and economics. When are they going to understand that corporation don’t pay taxes, they collect them as a cost of sales that gets added into the retail price that EVERYONE pays! You can’t eat their lies or buy a home or pay your rent with them. It’s time to wake up and smell the coffee. Basically stated – There ain’t no free lunch, Pilgrims? Duke

    • Mr. Duke, you are wrong. Corporations do pay taxes. As for your reference to Idi Amin, no different than the Catholic church (or this blog). People worshiping while their soles are being eaten away.

  • Dave might get his wish for higher voter turnout in November, but not the way he hopes. If the Dems turn on their vote-machine like they did for Obama and Biden, Trump is again second best. The GOP has a hard time getting people to the polls, and does not support mail-in which hobbles their chances—except when the Dem candidate is universally disliked–not the case now. The GOP says you can vote if I approve, the Dems say just vote–makes a big difference.

  • Dave, you have detailed that party’s destructive tribalism admirably. My only (very minor) quibble is that the mainstream media were (justifiably) trashing Komrade Kamala just a few scant WEEKS ago, not months; now in the relative blink of any eye she has morphed into the second coming of Barack Obama. Regrettably, they may be onto something: Obama could deliver soaring speeches long on Hope & Change and remarkably short on anything else, and that carried him through to two terms. Kamala has the great fortune to follow (and therefore be compared to) Joe Biden. The contrast is such that her facility with reading from a Teleprompter is breathtaking, and her ruminations on the “significance of the passing of time” and proceeding into a future “unburdened by what has been” may come to sound like pronouncements handed down from the Oracle of Delphi. We shall see.

  • For four years I have heard nothing from Trump but retribution and how he wasn’t guilty of any crimes, they were all manufactured by Biden supporters. At his rallies he talks mainly about how badly he has been treated and not what he hopes to do if he is re-elected. He calls everyone who has ever spoken against him nasty names and says he is going to put them in jail. I watched some of the RNC Convention and saw his family support him – not. Melania was a wooden statue, Ivanka was a no show, as was Byron. Then last night I saw Kamala and Tim’s families support them, with tears and laughter. This after speeches about what they hoped to accomplish if they win. I didn’t see any past Presidents nor First Ladies at the RNC, I saw several of each speak at the DNC, as well as quite few past Republicans who spoke out against Trump and his cronies. They spoke of Project 2025, something that should scare every one of us no matter what party we back. Everyone should Google it since I’m sure FOX will never mention it……

  • I agree with nothing in your screed except that voter turnout is abysmal, and why we could lose our democracy. But what we are watching is a sea change in political momentum.

  • Was so disappointed to see many of your voting preferences in the county election.
There was a choice – continue with the desires of Gray and Farmer for ongoing development and support of Riverstone or the alternative of supporting Newcomer in an effort to properly direct this effort in a positive direction to maintain our efforts to support our fragile island and wonderful city against all of the intrusion.
    You choose the worst option.

  • Let us give thanks that the antic Democrat National Convention has ended, with neither a bang nor a whimper. Yes, Virginia, you can be both irritating and boring at the same time. Ms. Giggles and her testosterone-challenged #2 spent the week running away from thier previous bat guano crazy leftist policy positions, leaving us with a new definition of what a politcal moderate is. Apparently it’s someone who doesn”t actaully wear a Mao jacket to work and has recently removed the portrait of Che Guevara from the office wall.
On another matter, Dave, as a longtime Red Sox fan, I remember your nephew well. (Woke Sawks owner John Henry makes the team harder to pull for now. Come back, Tom Yawkey. All is forgiven.) A .303 lifetime BA is not shabby at all. Let’s hope Mike Greenwell’s political career is also Major League.

    • I too remember Mike Greenwell. He was a good player and, from what I hear, is still a nice guy. Unfortunately, some of his dealings during his post-BB career as a general contractor are going to need further discussion and explanation before I am ready to give him my vote. His competition is not as weak as Dave states either.

  • Today marks the 3rd anniversary of the deaths of 13 young servicemembers during Biden’s cowardly withdrawal from Afghanistan. As I read over the comments from your readers on your column. I see a most stark contrast between the two candidates, Harris and Trump. Trump took time to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier this morning. If you need any more reminders of who’s the most “Presidential”, well, shame on you. Neither our current deposed president or his nitwit No. 2 who’s afraid to speak without a script, could find the time to acknowledge the 13 fallen soldiers or their families on this sad anniversary. November can’t get here quick enough for this voter. Grit and character are only being displayed by one of the candidates. Easy choice for me. Kamala Harris reminds me of a Hooters waitress who will pretend to like you in order to get some attention and a bigger tip. But in the end of your visit, all you have is a plate of greasy, picked-over bones and filthy hands.

    • Well said, McJeff. I do take issue regarding your comparison of Komrade Kamala with the Hooters waitresses. The latter are, at the very least, doing honest work. Plus they earn their living in a vertical position—unlike Komrade K, who began her political career on the horizontal. [Insert Willie Brown reference here.]

    • Retired Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster, who served as national security adviser under former President Donald Trump, said Monday his onetime boss bears a significant portion of the responsibility for the US’ chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021.

      • McMaster has TDS.

Trump committed to pull out in May 2021. Biden pushed that to August 2021. This is what McMaster actually said, “He (Biden) couldn’t stick with the decision…He didn’t stick with the decision. And I think people were in his ear and manipulated him with these mantras: ‘End the endless wars’ and ‘Afghanistan is a graveyard of empires’ and so forth.”

Anderson Cooper then asked McMaster if Trump bore some responsibility and his response was “Oh, yes.”

    • Your end of comment makes no sense and I assume has something to do with a longstanding unresolved personal issue. With that in mind, exactly what were you expecting to have at the end of your meal as a result of your fantasy new friendship with the Hooter’s waitress?
